Segment 1 – This Week in WoW
Rumored 3rd expansion stuff! From MMO-Champion:
Level cap of 85.
New Race/Class Combos – Human Hunter, Orc Mage, Night Elf Mage, Dwarf Mage, Blood Elf Warrior, Dwarf Shaman, Undead Hunter, Tauren Paladin, Tauren Priest, Gnome Priest, Troll Druid
No new continent, but…
• The Barrens will be split into two separate zones of two different level bands.
• Azshara will become a low level (~10-20) zone.
• Some of the zones like the Thousand Needles will be flooded.
• Durotar is wrecked and apparently Orgrimmar could be destroyed. A new Orc city is rebuilt over the course of the expansion.
• Gnomeregan will be part of the expansion as well and gnomes might be able to reclaim their capital. (The last part is still unconfirmed)
• Wailing Caverns will be become a lush tropical area as a result of the druid’s magic.
• The Blackrock Spire will erupt and a new version of Blackrock Mountains will be available, apparently Ragnaros will be back too.
Flying in Azeroth – Flying? Finally?
Part of the redesign of the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor is the introduction of flying to the two continents, allowing access to many new areas and quicker traveling across the large continents.
Segment 2 – Blizzard Blues
End of Arena Season 6 Coming Soon – On August 11th, Slorkuz from Blizzard EU posted the inevitable end to yet another season of arenas, stating “We are currently planning to end Arena Season 6 as early as August 25. At that point we will go through our normal process to determine who is eligible for the end-of-season rewards. This process should take approximately one week. It’s very important for players who feel that they may be eligible for the arena-specific titles and/or Furious Gladiator’s Frostwyrm to refrain from transferring their character to another realm until after Arena Season 6 ends.
The following Arena Season will not begin for at least one week after the current season ends. During this time between seasons, all rated matches will be turned off and only skirmishes will be available. When Arena Season 7 begins, all team ratings, personal rating, and arena points will be wiped, but matchmaking rating and honor points will remain.”
Let the phishing tourney commence… wait… wrong kind of phishing – Already there are reports of nefarious evil-doers out there, trying to pass off a phishing site as a World of Warcraft: The Cataclysm alpha site. Basically getting your WoW login info, or even worse your Credit Card info. Be careful what you click on out there people! There is no way that Blizzard would be sending out Alpha invites. Not at this stage. And when the beta invites get pushed out, we’ll let you know. Even better, BLIZZARD will let you know.
Segment 3 – Change Bank
Change the fishing mechanic – I think the next thing Blizzard needs to change is the fishing mechanic. I don’t like the fact that at Skill Level 450 (max level) you have NO CONTROL over where the fishing bobber lands. You would think that after fishing up 5000+ fish and other things, you would have the ability to fish in the exact spot you want to. Maybe have a “controlled cast” that can be used once every 2 minutes or so – that way if you need to fish in a specific spot (like schools of fish or wreckage nodes), at least you can have a perfect cast… Once.
Add Raid Frames to Blizzard UI – It’s time for Blizzard to add raid frames to their default UI. When running 5-man content, I can see all of my party members. Why can’t I see my entire raid in 10-man and 25-man content? The way the Blizzard unit frames are setup today forces most players to use add-ons like Xperl or Healbot just to be able to function in raids. For players that choose not to use an add-on, their only way to see other players in their raid is to open their Social window, go to the Raids tab, and drag each player into their game space. This is far too tedious and time consuming. Please Blizzard, give us raid frames!
Segment 4 – Loot Table
This week, I point you to http://wowtcgloot.com. WoW TCG Loot tells you everything you will ever want to know about the trading card game loot cards, including: Price History with pricing graph, Loot card item information, the source of the loot card, an image of the in-game tooltip, videos with music of the loot card in action, and where you can purchase the loot card RIGHT NOW! Three of my favorite loot cards: The Ogre Pinata, the Sandbox Tiger, and the Spectral Tiger mount.
I love the way some quests work in Northrend. There is a quest you pick up in Zul’Drak, and the only way you can finish it, is to go and do 4 other quests. I love the idea of having nested quest chains. You didn’t see that in BC or Vanilla WoW, and as far as I can remember, that was the only time you see it in Wrath. I’d love to see a MASSIVE nested quest line. Something akin to 1 initial quest, which splits off into 4 quests, and each of those 4 quests splits off into 3. Or something like that. So you have to do 12 quests to complete the 1 initial quest. But I wouldn’t make them arbitrary. Make them so the story is progressed with each completed quest.
Segment 5 – E-Mail / Q&A
You send us your email and MP3 attachments and we get to respond to them. This is your chance to rack the brains of Stacalm and Gill. Get those hard to find answers from the guys that know! And if they don’t know…well…they’ll probably just make something up.
