Segment 4 – E-mail/Q&A

Fallenmorn sez:

This is Fallenmorn, Aerie Peak (same as the 5 star review in itunes).
I wanted to pass on a suggestion for the loot table, in case you
haven’t tried it already, and ask a question.

Second, I have a question, or a request for a warcraft etiquette
ruling from those who have been around for a lot longer than I (I
started in October ’10). I’ve become fairly skilled at auctioneering,
especially with glyphs, which on my server fluctuate wildly (often
going from 15 gold to 150 gold and back in two days). One of the ways
I make money is to pick a glyph that is wildly overpriced, make 4 or
6, and post them for between 1 and 5 gold below the going rate. Two
days later, I bring the price down a little more, but always at least
double the cost of materials.

Now twice I’ve had people WOW message my bank alt (different toon,
where I do my posting from and little else) to curse and complain
about my undercutting them, and demand I switch to merely undercutting
a copper or two or maybe a silver as the “correct way to post”.
Personally, I think that the auction house is fair, and whatever price
you can get people to pay, you’re welcome to post at. But I was
wondering, is there any point of etiquette or good behavior that says
you must keep your prices near the wildly overpriced current going
rate? Gill, Stacalm, friends of the show, views on this? While I don’ts
agree with the complaint, I don’t want to be doing something that
might be equivalent, say, to a mage needing everything in a PUG.

Anyway, great show, keep up the good work, can’t wait to hear the next episode!

-Fallenmorn, Aerie Peak Server, Alliance Nation Guild

PS. I love how chaotic the auction house is when all the mods are
down. So many profitable opportunities 🙂

Tobito Sez:

I think both of you are wrong about Bound-to-Battlenet-Account items. You can ONLY send them to characters on your same realm BUT on a different account that is also tied to YOUR battlenet account.
So, if I have 2 accounts (1 and 2) that are tied to the same Battlenet account, I can send a BoA item from my character on account1 to my character on account2, but ONLY if the two toons involved are on the same Server.

My evidence:
On April 5th, the Devs did a Q&A session, and one of the questions was the following:
Q: Is there any plan to allow Account Bound items to be transfer to other realms? This could really give meaning to the phrase “Account Bound”.
A: Yes. Some day. It will take a lot of programmer time to implement, but it’s something we want to do.

If Blizzard had something like what you guys are talking about planned, I think their answer would have been more definitive than that. Thus, the way I read their description is the above, and I think that is the communities general consensus.

“Zool-ah-mahn” (Zul’Aman) and “Zool-gah-roob” (Zul’Gurub)

http://wow.joystiq.com/2011/04/22/patch-4-1-rise-of-the-zandalari-features-and-official-patch-not/

General

  • Conquest Points are now purchasable from the Valor Quartermasters at 250 Conquest Points per 250 Valor Points.
  • Honor Points are now purchasable from the Justice Trade Goods vendors at 250 Honor Points per 375 Justice Points.
  • Justice Points are now purchasable from the Honor Trade Goods vendors at 250 Justice Points per 375 Honor Points.

Dungeon Finder: Call to Arms

A new system intended to lower queue times, Dungeon Finder: Call to Arms offers additional rewards for queuing as the currently least represented role. To be eligible for the additional rewards you must solo queue for a random level-85 Heroic in the role that is currently being Called to Arms, and complete the dungeon by killing the final boss. Every time you hit these requirements (there is no daily limit) you’ll receive a goodie bag that will contain some gold, a chance at a rare gem, a chance at a flask/potion, a good chance of receiving a non-combat pet (including cross faction pets), and a very rare chance at receiving a mount.

Guilds
The criteria on many of the profession-related guild achievements has been significantly reduced.

Guild Challenges

  • These challenges can be found in the Info pane of the guild UI.
  • Guild Challenges fall into three categories: Dungeons, Raids, and Rated Battlegrounds.
  • Each challenge can be completed a set number of times per week. Guild groups participating in level-appropriate Heroic or normal difficulty dungeons and raids, or rated Battlegrounds, will automatically qualify for challenge credit.
  • Each time a Guild Challenge is completed, the guild will be awarded experience and gold deposited directly into the Guild Vault, as well as the opportunity to earn all-new achievements. A popup or “toast” will be displayed to confirm a Guild Challenge has been completed (similar to achievement alerts).
  • Guild experience earned via Guild Challenges will be awarded above the daily cap. The experience cap will move forward relative to the amount of experience obtained through completing Guild Challenges (similar to rested experience for characters).
  • Guilds already at the level cap will be awarded substantially more gold in place of guild experience.
  • Gold rewards are deposited into the guild bank once the guild reaches level 5. The text for the Cash Flow guild perk has been updated appropriately.

Guild Finder

  • A new Guild Finder button will now appear on the Micro Menu for guild leaders, as well as players without a guild.
  • A Guild Interests field allows players to form a guild around common interests: Questing, Dungeons, Raids, PvP, and Role Playing.
  • An Availability field allows players to note whether or not weekdays or weekends are better for playing.
  • The Class Roles field allows players to indicate the role or roles they are capable of, and willing to fill.
  • A Comment box is also available for supplying additional information.
  • Once a player has filled out the Guild Interests field, the Browse Guilds tab allows them to find guilds actively recruiting via the Guild Finder. Guilds listed here are displayed according to common interests.
  • The Requests tab tracks all recruitment requests submitted by an unguilded player, or submitted to the leader of a selected guild.

Account Bound Items

  • Many “Account Bound” heirlooms are now labeled as “Battle.net Account Bound”, meaning that they can also be traded or mailed to characters that are on different World of Warcraft accounts under the same Battle.net account.
  • Mail sent to characters on the same Battle.net account now arrives instantaneously, as it does for the same World of Warcraft account.
  • Mailing account-bound items to characters of the opposite faction on the same Battle.net account will now correctly translate faction-specific items to their appropriate equivalent.

Hunters

  • Multi-Shot damage has been increased by 250%.
  • Tame Beast now tames pets to match the hunter’s level, rather than 3 levels below.
  • The Feed Pet ability now instantly heals 50% of the pet’s health. Cannot be used in combat. Requires diet-appropriate food.
  • The Happiness/Pet Loyalty System has been removed. Hunters will no longer have to manage Happiness for their pets, and the previous damage bonus for pets being happy will now be baseline for all tamed pets.

And Finally…

  • Worgen females have learned how to laugh out loud.
  • In Stratholme, Postboxes no longer require keys to open, because really, who locks their postboxes anymore when they’re all undead? It’s just people sending coupons for brains anyway.
  • The Reins of the Dark Phoenix, purchased from the Guild Vendor, has had its art improved. It’s now less transparent and indisputably more awesome.
  • All trade goods available for purchase with Honor or Justice Points from the associated commodities vendors have had their prices reduced by 50%.
  • Maelstrom Crystals are now available for purchase with Honor or Justice Points from the associated commodities vendors.
  • And don’t forget Zul’Aman and Zul’Gurub are coming…chirp, chirp, chirp.

Segment 4 – E-mail/Q&A

Josemi sez,

Hey guys:

I was listening to episode 48 the other day because I had never finished listening to it, when I heard Gill say something about people that download the podcast from 5 different places, including Puerto Rico, and asked for these people to contact him. Now, I’m not sure if I’m the person from PR he was referring to, but I’ve been downloading your podcast for about 4-5 months now, so I figured it could be me. If it’s not, then add me to the list.

As I said, I’ve been downloading your podcast for a few months now. I listen to a few other WoW podcasts, but was looking for some additional ones when I stumbled into yours on the Itunes Store. It’s refreshing in that you both seem to speak from an everyday, regular WoW player perspective. In that way, it compliments the others I listen to.

So, greetings from Puerto Rico and keep up the excellent work.

Ask the Devs Q&A
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/2228225718

Q: While mining and herbalism both supports two other professions (jewel crafting and blacksmith for mining, inscription and alchemy for herbalism), skinning only support leather working and is less viable. Will you consider adding some small advantages for skinning, for example, chances to get more cooking material, to make skinning more attractive? – 柴德洛夫 (Taiwan)
A: Skinning has its own advantages though. For example, you can skin the same targets you are killing for quests or while running a dungeon, while Mining and Herbalism often require you to go out of your way to gather that resource. Sometimes you get lucky and find a field of recently-killed corpses, just waiting to be skinned.

Q: Healers cannot get Flask of Flowing Water from Guild Cauldron, which means Guild Cauldron is useless to healers. Can I expect any improvement for this? –꼬꼬마샷다 (Korea)
A: We couldn’t figure out an elegant way to determine if healers wanted the Spirit flask or the Intellect flask, so we erred on the side of throughput and gave them Intellect. Healers who would prefer Spirit can just get the normal flasks. We’ll think about another way to handle this. Spirit is obviously very popular among healers, but we don’t want to have a system that pops up a window asking you which flask you want.

Highlights of 4.1 –

Zul’Aman has returned as a level-85 5-player Heroic dungeon featuring a revamp of the original dungeon and improved loot!

Zul’Gurub has returned as a level-85 5-player Heroic dungeon featuring all-new encounters, achievements, and improved loot

Both dungeons will be in a new Dungeon Finder difficulty tier above the current level-85 Heroic dungeons and offer epic-quality item level 353 loot

Both dungeons require an average Item Level of 346 in order to run them.

Looking for Guild coming in 4.1?
http://wow.joystiq.com/2011/02/25/looking-for-guild-feature-available-on-patch-4-1-ptr/#continued

The Guild Perk, Cash Flow, no longer prints out text to the Chat Log. Instead, the daily amount deposited is shown in the Guild Vault Money Log. In addition, players can view the weekly contribution in a new window at the bottom of the Money Log.

We have added two new custom guild tabards as Guild Rewards. The tabards are account bound and offer a bonus to gaining guild reputation.

All major cities will now have every type of profession trainer and their associated trade supply vendors.

Looks like Old Ironforge is available to look around in – without you getting booted from the game by a GM.

Wanna fly in Ghostlands? Now you can!

Want a Wintersaber mount, but don’t like the current grind? Fear not, listener! The Wintersabers Trainers will now be a set of daily quests. After roughly 20 days of dailies, you will get Winterspring Cub Whiskers, which you turn in for you mount.

Ryshat – dinged 85, gearing up (yay engineering goodies), running Tol Barad for fun, going though each zone to complete all quests, doing Argent Tournament dailies to get seals for heirloom gear (tip, the champion purses have a 100% drop rate of an extra Champion’s Seal). Pv getting P’ed on….
http://wow.joystiq.com/2011/01/26/blizzard-on-2200-rating-pvp-weapon-availability/

Patch 4.0.6 on the PTR

Official patch notes from the PTR can be found here:  http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/2011384#blog

General
The guild reward Armadillo Pup now requires revered faction instead of exalted.

Dungeons and Raids

Level-85 players can now choose any normal dungeon via the Dungeon Finder. Choosing Random Dungeon will still not add Blackrock Caverns or Throne of the Tides into the rotation.
Level-85 dungeon bosses in Lost City of the Tol’vir, Grim Batol, and Halls of Origination now drop 30 Justice Points each when killed.
The daily Random Dungeon reward on normal difficulty has been increased to 140 Justice Points, up from 70.
Players no longer need to discover Cataclysm dungeon entrances in order to access them via the Dungeon Finder.

Professions

Archaeology

  • Archaeology fragments now have a hard cap of 200 per race. Players will not be able to collect additional fragments until they complete artifacts to take them down below 200 fragments. Players with more than 200 fragments will not lose additional fragments in 4.0.6, but in a future patch we may remove any fragments above 200.
  • Archaeology finds now grant a guaranteed skill point up to 50 skill, and then no longer grant skill gains, as opposed to granting up to 100 skill very slowly.
  • The sell value of all common artifacts has been doubled, while a small subset of common artifacts have had their sell value increased far beyond that.A socket has been added to most crafted epic armor pieces that did not already have one.

Alchemy

  • Alchemist’s Stones for Agility, Strength, and Intellect have been added.

Enchanting

  • Three new bracer enchants are available. They increase Agility by 50, Strength by 50, or Intellect by 50 respectively. Item level 300 or higher required. These new recipes are rare world drops.
  • Enchant Off-Handed – Superior Intellect now increases Intellect by 40, down from 100.

Fishing

  • Rare fishing poles now have a chance to be found in the Bag of Fishing Treasures earned via the Stormwind and Orgrimmar Fishing daily quests.

Leatherworking

  • The 500 to 510 skill-up range for Leatherworking has been improved.

Tailoring

  • Darkglow Embroidery (Rank 2) now increases Spirit instead of restoring a flat amount of mana.
  • Illusionary Bag now has 26 slots.

Jewelcrafting

  • Meta gems with the Chaotic and Relentless prefixes now have a requirement of 3 red gems.
  • New meta gems have been added

PvP

Tol Barad

  • Attacking forces will receive a 200% capture speed bonus when they control 2 keeps.
  • Defending forces will receive a 200% capture speed bonus when they control all 3 keeps.
  • Daily quest creatures, herbs, minerals, etc. will only spawn when Tol Barad is in the quest phase between battles. There will be 5-minute and 1-minute warnings before the quest phase ends. The quest phase ends 15 minutes before the battle for Tol Barad begins and queuing is made available. At that time any players in the daily micro dungeons will be ported just outside. This does not apply to Tol Barad Peninsula or the daily quests there.
  • The weekly PvP quest “Victory in Tol Barad” now awards 200 Honor Points and 3 Tol Barad Commendations.
  • Players can now see the status of Tol Barad on the World Map no matter where they are. The time to the next battle is displayed by zooming into the Tol Barad section of the map. The current controlling faction can be seen on the Eastern Kingdoms map.

Hunters

  • Hunters can now use Auto Shot while moving.
  • Freezing Trap now has a PvP duration of 8 seconds. BOOOOOOOO

User Interface

  • For opening cinematics there is now a streaming option interface in the login screen for play-on-demand.
  • Players can now individually remove raid world markers.
  • The Reputation Pane now saves which reputation categories are expanded or collapsed.
  • Character Info Window
  • The Character Info window (C) now saves the order and expand/collapse state of stat categories separately for each talent specialization.
  • Character movement speed is now displayed on the Character Info window (C) with all other stats.
  • The Haste display on the Character Info window (C) now shows the total haste percentage, rather than only haste from haste rating.

Archaeology

  • There are now number displays on the summary page and dropdown menu.
  • Ready Flash has been added to the race icons.

Guild Interface

  • A View All button has been added to the profession display regardless of whether Show Offline Members is checked.
  • Online members can now be sorted to the top of the View Crafters list.
  • The guild reputation cap is now displayed in the tooltip.

Real ID & Chat
